IT’S NICE TO MEET YOU

Hey, I’m Madison!

I am a film photographer based in Charlottesville & Richmond, VA. Yes, film! I shoot all portrait sessions with 35mm and/or medium format film.

I have been shooting film professionally for 15 years. I am a licensed Art Educator and spent 13 years teaching film photography to high school students in the public school system.

I've continued to teach one-on-one sessions and run workshops at Pro Camera in Charlottesville. When there isn't a camera by my side, you can find me in the gym being a total meathead, checking out the latest resturant, or heading into the mountains (okay, so there's probably a camera with me...)

Why Film?

Film photography has  been my form of personal expression for as long as I can remember. It's the thread that continues to connect all parts of my life. It's my first love. It's how I see humanity -- the light and the dark. It's how I relate to myself, and to others. I've always found portraits to be powerful. I believe capturing stories, existence, and time (that is all so fleeting) is an incredibly beautiful, and important, part of this life.

I'm so excited to offer film photography for others to experience. It's a slower process, an intimate exchange between us, and my craft. Much of the process is "old school" but the hybrid approach that I take means you will receive the digital scans *and* you retain the beauty from the camera's glass and film chemistry.

I love capturing images of where you are in your life right now... with your favorite people, in your favorite places, doing what you love.
