Madison Fairburn resides in Richmond, VA. She received her BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Art Education in 2008. She is a licensed K-12 Fine Arts teacher in Virginia who specializes in Darkroom and Film Photography. She has taught the entire K-12 spectrum over the last decade, but is fortunate enough to have spent majority of her career with high school students inviting them to fall in love with the film photography process.

She currently teaches AP 2D Design with a photography concentration to upper level students. She develops the curriculum for this course as students prepare a portfolio under a sustained investigation over course a year.

Additionally, she teachers Photography I classes that focus on 35mm film camera operation, film processes, and basic darkroom printing techniques. Followed by Photography II classes, that focus on alternative processes, medium format films, digital media, and studio lighting.

She is the Fine Arts Department Chair and Wellness Champion within her building, and has been recognized as a Regional Outstanding Educator by Scholastic Art and Writing in 2019.
